Skill Building and Social Support

To equip parents and caregivers to best serve children we offer social support, including parenting classes and support groups, and specific skills training in a variety of disciplines including English classes, finance workshops and health and exercise classes. Childcare is provided at most events.

Behavioral Health & Wellness

We provide counseling to support parents & caregivers in addition to their children, with a special focus on the impacts of trauma. Our team of professionals - many of whom are from the same LA neighborhoods we serve - help to navigate and reduce symptoms of traumatic stress, improve coping skills and build resilience. Programs range from individual and family treatments to specialized support groups.

Employment Support

We help parents access the CalWORKs assistance program by hosting job readiness classes and workshops that prepare parents to meet education and work requirements. We also offer counseling and care management to support family success, resilience and emotional wellness.

Community Activities

We host year-round community activities, such as Winter Fest, that families can attend together. Our activities build relationships between children and caregivers, and celebrate and strengthen the local community.

REACH TEAM

Witnessing gun violence is a traumatic experience for children and families and can have long-lasting effects on social and emotional health. We work with families to identify and treat trauma following gun violence incidents. With support and resources, children and their caregivers can overcome trauma and continue their healthy development.

Adoption Support Services

We support children and families through the adoption process and beyond by providing specialized counseling services for children and training classes for parents. CII staff collaborates with care managers and counselors to support a successful adoption and a stable, happy future.

Project Fatherhood

A father's involvement is critical to their child's well-being. Project Fatherhood encourages fathers to strengthen relationships with their children while also improving themselves. This program includes support groups, counseling, job training and parent education.
