Children's Institute (CII) is delighted to announce that comedian, television host, and New York Times best-selling author Chelsea Handler has joined the line-up of special guests for its Cape & Gown Gala on Sunday, November 8, in Beverly Hills. The 8th Annual event also features a special performance by seven-time Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer.

Created in partnership with Jake and Romy Reiner, the Michele & Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award will cement the Reiners' enduring legacy of advancing bold solutions, civic leadership, and social progress on behalf of children, families, and historically marginalized communities.

As Senior Vice President of Behavioral Health and Community Services at Children's Institute, Dr. Diane Elias provides strategic leadership for one of Los Angeles County's largest community-based behavioral health programs, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of therapists, care coordinators, clinical supervisors, and administrative professionals committed to advancing a more coordinated, equitable, and whole-family approach to care.

CII is recognized by the National Head Start Association (NHSA) as one of 11 Head Start programs across the country for their excellence in providing high-quality early childhood education and family support services, as part of their 2025-30 Program of Excellence accreditation.

Experienced nonprofit executive will lead people, culture, and support strategic priorities to advance CII's next chapter of growth, innovation, and impact.
