Description

This advanced course assumes that supervisors have had an equivalent of a Foundations of Clinical Supervision course and will add advanced skills to their repertoire. The course will use scenarios provided in advance from current and past participants working in community mental health. For each scenario the trainer will provide a brief lecture on the supervision principles related to the scenario, followed by small group discussion of the scenario, and the trainer summarizing lessons learned and skills to be applied.

This course is open only to experienced supervisors of interns, license-eligible, and licensed staff. The course fulfills the 6-hour requirement for continuing education in supervision for re-licensing for supervisors of all disciplines.

After attending this seminar, you should be able to:

  1. Teach staff three clinical interventions to engage clients from other cultures
  2. Utilize two methods for coaching staff to involve parents and caregivers
  3. Identify two methods for teaching family therapy
  4. Teach staff three methods for improving telemental health services
  5. Utilize one method for improving telemental health supervision
  6. Use one questionnaire or process to measure comfort and learning in supervision
  7. Convey vision-based expectations to staff
  8. Teach staff three methods for improving their work habits
  9. Clarify staff and supervisor roles in staff performance
  10. Utilize two methods for supporting staff through pandemic caused stress

Training Schedule: (participants are expected to attend both days)

Monday, May 15 – 9:30am – 12:30pm PST

Tuesday, May 16 – 9:30am – 12:30pm PST

Pending Approval – Continuing Education Credits: up to 6 credits available for PSY, MFT, and LCSW’s

APA: Children’s Institute, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Children’s Institute, Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

The California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

By registering for this training the agency is liable for the registration fee, which is refundable up to May 8, 2023 @ 5pm minus the Eventbrite charge.  Registration is transferable prior to the start of the training.  Once the training begins, fees are non-refundable/transferable and no partial refunds will be given.
