Description

This training will take a complex look at culture as multifaceted and encompassing not only race but orientation, nation of origin, faith, ability/disability, gender, and more. Issues of inequity, discrimination, and poverty negatively impact the emotional health of individuals. Thus it is paramount that providers build a deeper understanding how they can sensitively consider culture as a family strength not a barrier to service delivery. Providers will be asked to examine their personal culture and consider ways to step outside of their professional lens, or dominant culture view to embrace the unique diversity issues of each family.
