Although the race has ended, you can still be an underachiever by donating until Monday, 11/19/18.  All proceeds will go toward purchasing non-perishable food items to distribute to our neediest families for Thanksgiving.

.5k Underachiever Race & Canned Food Drive with Boomtown Brewery

Thursday, Nov 8th from 6-9 PM

Description: In honor of Thanksgiving, the Children’s Institute is collecting non-perishable “thanksgiving” food items to secure and distribute to our children and families receiving services in our most underserved communities.  With Boomtown Brewery’s Support, we will be hosting our first .5k Underachiever race & canned food drive!

Goals: Support everyone in completing this very difficult course of .5k (0.31 miles, or 1,640.42 feet. That’s roughly the length of three New York City subway trains), BUT most importantly support our children and families by providing the necessary traditional Thanksgiving ingredients to help them overachieve an excellent Thanksgiving.

Registration Fees: In the spirit of Thanksgiving we’re asking for either a financial contribution of $30 and/or a Harvest Bag of canned foods comprised (1) Mac & Cheese 7.25 oz box,  (1) Gravy Mix 10.5 oz can or (2) 0.87 oz Turkey gravy mix packets, (1) 13.75 oz. Box of Mashed Potatoes, (1) 6oz Turkey Stuffing Mix, (1) 14 oz can of cranberry sauce, (1-2) 15oz canned corn and (1) 14.5 oz canned green beans, and a gift card of $15 from a Kroger Brand Store (Food4Less, Ralphs) or Target for families to purchase a protein (Turkey/Ham) of their choosing.    If you plan on bringing a Harvest Bag, please register here!

What’s Included: A $30 donation/registration includes your first beer. Finishers will also receive a CII 0.5k sticker to wear afterward to photograph in glory and share with their community of supporters!

Added Bonus: In case runners get tired, a coffee and donut station will be set up at the halfway point for carb-loading and energy. This is also the designated smoking area.
