Week 3 – April 30 – Brains, Bodies and Stress, Oh My! Our programmed responses to difficult things

Our bodies are the most amazing machines, designed from the inside out to protect us and keep us safe. But what happens when we think our safety is threatened or worse, or safety is threatened continuously, and our bodies and our brains seek self-protection at all costs? This training is designed to give participants an overview of the brain and bodies’ stress systems in relation to community and environmental stress and trauma. We now know stress, adversity and trauma

In this training you will:

  • Share purposeful time together to connect, practice and reflect on the connection between stress and our bodies
  • Learn accessible language for teach and talking on the brain and body’s response to stress and trauma.
  • Learn what trauma triggers are, and what trauma informed responses can look like in different settings/situations.
  • Understand the importance of a trauma informed approach and its link between the educational and the psychological mind.
