Integrated treatment for adolescents with traumatic stress and substance use problems: The Trauma Systems Therapy Approach Training

Program developer Dr. Liza Suárez will provide participants with tools to gain an understanding of the links between traumatic stress, trauma reminders, and substance use. Applying the Trauma Systems Therapy framework for understanding the impact of trauma, participants will learn about ways to address safety and stability needs in the family and social environment. They will also apply strategies to help youth regulate emotions and behaviors associated with traumatic stress and substance use.

Continuing Education Credits: Up to 6 credits available for PSY, MFT, and LCSW’s
APA: Children’s Institute, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Children’s Institute, Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content. The California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) now recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal for LCSWs and MFTs.
