CII Programs and Services for Children and Families

Treatment Programs

Services for children who have been abused, neglected or exposed to community violence

  • Child Trauma Treatment Center—Mental health services for children who have been abused or neglected, and/or exposed to violence in the home, school, or community
  • Family Preservation—In-home counseling and parent education designed to strengthen families so children can safely remain in, or return to, their homes
  • Project ERIN (Emergency Response Intervention Network)—In collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department, provides emergency response and follow-up service for victims of domestic violence and their children
  • Specialized Sexual Abuse Treatment—Individual, family, and group counseling services for sexually abused children and teens and their non-offending parents
  • Foster Care—Comprehensive foster family care program for children ages birth to age 18
  • Grandma's House—Kinship support services for relative caregivers and children
  • Child and Family Assessments—Mental health evaluations emphasizing children in the child protective services system

Prevention Programs

Services to ensure that children grow up in a safe, stable environment, and to improve the home and community environment

  • Parenting Education—Groups for parents and caregivers that address basic child development principles, communication skills, and alternatives to corporal punishment
  • Project FatherhoodSM—Parenting and support group services which address the critical issue of father absence and encourage men to become more active in the rearing of their children
  • Project Safe School—School-based intervention services for middle school students who are victims—or perpetrators—of bullying
  • L.A. Bridges—Counseling, education, and enrichment program to give at-risk middle school students an alternative to gangs
  • California Youth Authority Parenting Program—A parenting and support program for youths in California Youth Authority facilities

Early Childhood Programs

Services designed to reach children in their earliest years in order to have the most positive impact on their future development

  • Early Childhood Development—Early Head Start and preschool for children from birth to age 5, with a special emphasis on at-risk children
  • School Readiness—A comprehensive family support program to ensure that children enter kindergarten healthy, prepared, and ready to learn
  • Preschool Day Treatment—A behavioral intervention program for children ages 3 to 5 with severe emotional and behavioral problems
  • Project Stable Home—An in-home intervention program for children who have been prenatally exposed to drugs or HIV

Community Services

Services that strengthen the safety net of community resources available to traumatized children and their families

  • Family Resource Center—Art, computer, and other enrichment programs to support learning and child well-being; as well as leadership development, financial literacy, and referral services for parents
  • Job Club—Job preparation and assistance program for young urban fathers
