Los Angeles: Saturday, March 6, was Spring Sale Day at The Colleagues Boutique, a designer resale shop in Santa Monica. Located at 3312 Pico Boulevard, the boutique is filled with gently or never worn pieces by Armani, Valentino, Gucci and many other designers of haute couture. The store also carries fashion accessories and some household wares. The sale ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
From Los Angeles Magazine:
At The Colleagues, a designer resale shop staffed by volunteers, philanthropists cluck about their latest donations and polite hell breaks loose when a customer spots a Marc Jacobs jacket. Children’s Institute…is the beneficiary whenever a barely worn Bill Blass party dress or Escada suit is sold…

Founded in 1950, The Colleagues began as a small group of resourceful and influential women who generated resources for the Big Sister League (later known as Children’s Institute), then a struggling charity that helped young women in trouble with the law or pregnant out of wedlock. Among the support group’s major events is a high profile annual luncheon and fashion show that honors political leaders, celebrities and other recognized individuals for their efforts on behalf of children. Past recipients include, Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford, Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, Maria Shriver; Angie Harmon and husband Jason Seahorn, and, most recently, Wolfgang and Gelila Puck.
Children’s Institute, Inc. helps children who have been affected by violence in their homes or communities. Since 1906, CII has served at-risk children and families in some of Los Angeles’ most devastated neighborhoods. CII provides healing and support so that traumatized children can recover and lead healthy lives. We lead children away from tragic outcomes and on a path toward opportunity and achievement.
