Mindful and Reflective Parenting Training

October 21, 2011

This daylong training — Foundations of Mindful and Reflective Parenting: Targeting Parental Reflective Capacity to Build Healthy Parent-Child Relationships in At-Risk Families — will take a relationship-focused approach to the prevention of psychopathology and child maltreatment in early childhood, based on enhanced parental reflective capacity to promote healthy parent-child relationships.

The training will introduce participants to an innovative approach to working with parents and the parent-child relationship. The approach emphasizes mindful observation, flexible responsiveness and reflection as practices that enhance the quality of parent-child interactions and the attachment relationship itself.

Featured presenters include:

John Grienenberger, PhD
Founder, Reflective Parenting Program and Co-Executive Director, Center for Reflective Parenting

John Grienenberger has authored numerous papers and training programs in the areas of attachment, reflective functioning, parenting, and child psychotherapy. Along with Arietta Slade, he helped to develop the first measure of parental reflective functioning, the Parent Developmental Interview (PDI). He developed the Reflective Parenting Program and has a clinical practice in West Los Angeles.

Diane Reynolds, MFT
Founder, Mindful Parenting Groups and Co-Executive Director, Center for Reflective Parenting

Diane Reynolds is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in infant/early childhood mental health and reflective parent education for more than 18 years. Ms. Reynolds created the innovative Mindful Parenting Group model a decade ago, and she has since trained group facilitators and published and spoken widely on this relationship-focused model. She is currently in private practice in Santa Monica serving adults, couples and families with young children.
