ASQ: Screening for developmental delays is a critical component of a home visitation program. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire is a high quality screening tool for use with children 0 – 60 months. In this training, participants will learn to administer the questionnaire, to discuss the results with parents, to make referrals as necessary, and to use screening as an opportunity to build their relationships with parents.

Participants will:

  • Learn the importance of using a high quality screening tool to monitor development and support early intervention.
  • Learn to administer and score the Ages and Stages Questionnaire.
  • Practice preparing for and completing a meeting with parents discussing the results.
  • Learn to determine if a referral is necessary and to whom to make it.
  • Learn to use screening as a tool for improving relationships with parents.
