Working with Military-Connected Families and Children Across Our Systems

August 1, 2014

*Presented by CII CHILD TRAUMA TRAINING ACADEMY in collaboration with
NATHANSON FAMILY RESILIENCE CENTER*

Although the 13 years of war are coming to a close, the reintegration of thousands of veterans is just beginning in Southern California. As home to among the highest concentration of veterans, active-duty, Reserve, and National Guard populations in the US, our military-connected families with children require our attention and special understanding of their unique challenges on the “Home Front”.

By attending this day-long training, child- and family-serving professionals from multiple disciplines and agencies will be better prepared to identify and meet the challenges and opportunities to support families and children impacted by military service.

Who should attend:
Mental health providers, social workers, child welfare workers, administrators from public and private agencies, community members, substance abuse treatment providers, child care, maternal health providers, law enforcement, court and legal personnel and caregivers.

Featured Presenter:

David Riggs, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland

Join Dr. Riggs and other nationally recognized experts for a day of interactive panels, presentations, and skill-building workgroups to become better-equipped to identify and interact effectively with military-connected families and children in your community and professional capacity.
