Supporting Families and Tailoring Treatment for Young Children with Autism and Other Developmental Challenges

This workshop for mental health and developmental intervention specialists will provide guidance to better serve young children with autism and other developmental challenges, by utilizing lecture, video, and discussion.

Participants will:

  • Improve understanding of autism and other developmental challenges
  • Increase ability to differentiate between autism and other developmental or mental health diagnoses.
  • Tailor treatment plans based on a child’s social-emotional milestones, developmental age, and individual differences.
  • Learn strategies to treat challenging behaviors in children with autism and other developmental challenges.
  • Discover how to support parents to cope with their children’s developmental needs and engage with their children to support growth in their daily interactions.

Mona Delahooke, Ph.D.
Mona Delahooke, Ph.D. specializes in supporting young children and their families facing the journey of early developmental challenges. She provides services for young children experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, prematurity, attachment issues, and medical conditions. She works on multidisciplinary treatment teams and provides training across the county.
