Children’s Institute, Inc. and Homeboy Industries Community Roundtable: “Reintegration Through Kinship”
On Thursday, March 20, 2014, Children’s Institute, Inc. in collaboration with Homeboy Industries will hold a one-day community roundtable to discuss several of the issues related to helping individuals successfully reintegrate into society after incarceration.
This event will include the following workshops:
- Workshop #1 – Let’s Face It, You Matter: Kinship in Reintegration
Facilitators will discuss the “do’s and don’ts” of working with
previously incarcerated and former gang members.
- Workshop #2 – Barriers To Employment: Checking the Box
Facilitators will discuss the employment barriers of previously incarcerated individuals, what they contend with, and the complexities of seeking employment.
- Workshop #3 – Hope and Healing in the Therapeutic Milieu
Facilitators will provide an overview of the trauma informed approach to mental health services.
- Workshop #4 – Reintegration through Kinship: A Panel Discussion
Panel will discuss their personal process of reintegration through kinship.
