Addressing the Needs of Military Families

August 5, 2013

Veteran families with children compose a rapidly growing percentage of LA County’s homeless, unemployed and at-risk population. Reintegration challenges after 12 years of war are taking their toll with divorce, substance abuse and family violence manifesting in Courts and other public systems. The children in these families are at increased risk of exposure to trauma and stress. This training will address the needs of these military-connected families, with attention to the unique issues of veteran, Reserve, Guard, and active duty families.

Who Should Attend: Mental health providers, social workers, child welfare workers, administrators from public and private agencies, community members, substance abuse treatment providers, child care, maternal health providers, law enforcement, court and legal personnel, and caregivers
