Description:

Responsible for providing a wide variety of individual, child family and group therapy; counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy services to families, children, and other clients in accordance with their specific therapeutic needs. Gathers information, assesses needs and provides direct clinical and related therapeutic services to clients and/or their families including: Gathering client’s history through personal interviews with client, family, friends, teachers; observes behaviors and conducts mental status examinations. Assessing parenting skills, family dynamics, family strengths, needs, attachments and mental status. Researching and collecting data (e.g., health, educational, psychosocial/mental health treatment records; DCFS placement history; family history; Regional Center and juvenile justice information) to be included in the final assessment; prepares case history of client. Assessing the needs of clients, formulating psychosocial diagnosis, and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, determining the most appropriate method(s) of providing treatment such as individual, family and group therapy; client advocacy, outreach, liaison services; supportive counseling and crisis intervention. Providing individual, family and/or group therapy to clients; co-facilitate therapy with others as needed. Consulting with supervisors, case workers, teachers, child care staff, mentors and paraprofessionals to ensure clinical and case management needs and service quality are being met; conferring regarding client needs, community services and resources and effectively matching services and resources to the needs of clients. Advocating for clients including court accompaniment, court translations, and supporting clients to successfully navigate the criminal and civil legal process or to ensure satisfactory placement of child in foster care.

Qualifications:

MSW or MFCC degree LCSW or LMFT license issued by the State of California Three or more years of experience, post master’s degree, relative to the specific type of client he or she will be working with and/or therapy to be provided, including family patterns, practices, special needs, traditions and values of the ethnic and cultural groups served by the program. Clinical supervision experience and willingness to accept assignments Supervisory skills sufficient to manage a group of up to 8 employees. Demonstrated proficiency in an evidence-based treatment (e.g., one year supervised experience) and ability to develop and implement training in evidence-based treatment theory and practice preferred. Ability to work effectively within a multicultural work group. Working knowledge of community resources to address special needs of the client base. Current California driver’s license and State-required insurance required if using personal vehicle on Agency business and a driving record acceptable to the organization and/or insurance carrier. Effective communication skills both oral and written; bi-lingual skills in Spanish/English are preferred Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
