Early Childhood Services

Under direct supervision of the Regional Director, ECS, Region 8, ECMH Consultant provides early childhood mental health consultation to caregivers, teachers, Family Services Workers and administrators in CII’s early childhood services programs including EHS and state-preschools. Provides case-centered consultation to ECE programs about children at the center and in the EHS home based option. Observes children in the childcare setting to assess functioning, relationships with teachers and other children. Meets on-site or at home with families to complete assessments, provide developmental guidance and referrals, including linkage to clinical services. Meets regularly with childcare staff individually and in groups for reflective supervision. Provides training workshops on selected topics when indicated. Observes the childcare setting to become familiar with the program offered to children. Meets regularly with the childcare staff and the site director to address programmatic concerns. Provides consultation to center staff on programmatic issues that affect the quality of care provided to the children. Discusses effective mechanisms of working with parents.

Masters degree in social work, psychology or related field and advanced knowledge of child development. Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience as a mental health clinician specializing in psychotherapeutic work with young children and their families. Two (2) years post-licensure with supervision experience preferred. Experience with assessment of young children’s social and emotional functioning. Experience with and/or knowledge of group dynamics and intervention with adults. Ability to host reflective supervisions with individuals and groups. Familiarity with the EHS performance standards and CDE regulations. Valid California Driver’s license, CA auto insurance and a safety record acceptable to CII’s insurance carrier are required.
